In case you wonder

Who we are

We hope to give you a glimpse of who we are here. You are always welcome to all activities that we host and we hope to get a chance to meet and get to know you there.

Our church

Welcome to Metsku, a contemporary Christian fellowship with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Our community is built upon the belief that every individual is a valuable and important member of the family, and we strive to create a space where everyone can come as they are and feel at home.

We believe that life is at its best when we share it with each other and a good God who loves us. We believe in Jesus and that he is relevant to today’s people, and therefore, we want to grow together in faith in God and discover more of the good life that he offers.

Whether you are exploring your faith for the first time, seeking to deepen your relationship with God, or simply looking for a welcoming community to share life with, we invite you to come and experience Metsku for yourself. We look forward to meeting you and getting to know you better!

In Lilla Tavastgatan (Vähä-Hämeenkatu) and Brunnsgatan (Kaivokatu) you can usually find parking. Some spaces use parking discs, but on weekends and weekday evenings you don’t need it.

A church where everyone is important

We don’t believe the church is built on a few leaders. The church is all about those who gather together to worship Jesus and to follow him. Metsku is a very active church that is built on teamwork. We have about 50 volunteers who have a whole lot of fun together as we serve and strive towards the dream God has given us. These are the real heroes that we are so thankful for!

Would you like to be part of this dream and join a team? Take a look at the page Get involved, where you can learn about our teams.

Stefan Forsbäck

Our Pastor, Stefan Forsbäck, is an ordained elder of the United Methodist Church and has been one of our leading pastors since 2012 and shouldered the Senior Pastor role in 2013. Stefan has a heart for people and seeing them thrive and grow in life and faith. He is passionate about Jesus and making him known to those who don’t go to church or know him yet.

Sandra Nykvist

Church worker

Sandra started to work for the church in February 2024 and has been a part of the congregation in Turku since 2015. She’s a theologian, singer-songwriter and she has a passion for dancing. Sandra takes care of information, finances, participates in the planning and implementation of all kinds of activities. Sandra has an active role in the youth and teens groups and is also a part of the worship team and the parish council.
Sandra has a heart for all people and is excited to see God work in people’s lives. She’s a big dreamer and wants to see more people getting to know God’s love and freedom.

In the Methodist Church we operate on the basis of voluntary gifts. We are here to do good to everyone we meet, and everything we collect goes to help people grow in various ways and to help with specific needs. We also believe in tithing according to the biblical model, but all giving is completely voluntary.
